To taste the royal splendour of yore of India, currently tourists have the option of doing it in Rajasthan only. Soon your india tour could include Gujarat's Palatial Heritage Circuit.
Why? Because recently the royal families of the neighbouring state of Rajasthan met at Vadodara on Jan 8 to discuss this matter. Their desire - connect all palaces of Gujarat in a heritage circuit.
The catalyst has been the making of Champaner, near Vadodara a World Heritage Site.
The meet (called 'Raj Dharma') at present was restricted to the royalties from Central and Eastern Gujarat. Many royal members got to meet each other for the first time even though they knew of each other's presence.
A wide range of other issues were discussed as well including deforestation and its effect on wildlife.
After the success of this gathering, the participants are on a high and are supporting the cause of making such meets an annual affair.
